Though it is conisdered a tiki style drink and served at tiki bars, its origins are Caribbean rather than South Pacific. The Painkiller cocktail is a trademark of Pusser’s Rum and was invented in the British Virgin Islands at a little bar called the Soggy Dollar Bar in the 1970s. The bartender credited with inventing the cocktail, Daphne Henderson, mixed a blend of Pusser’s Rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut cream, and nutmeg and it became so popular that it was adapted by other bartenders and dubbed the Painkiller.
